Sydney offers the best diving in any city around the world. There are so many fantastic shore dives on our doorstep each with their own highlights. This website shares our photos we have taken over the last year  to demonstrate the abundance of marine life we have here in Sydney.

Sharks, Rays, Turtles and Dolphins

We see sharks year round but more regularly during the winter when we have many Port Jackson sharks come to visit. Wobbegong sharks are year round as are blind sharks. We see the Fiddler Ray or Guitar Shark regularly too and I love these guys as they are somewhere between the evolutionary process between a shark and ray. My friends have spotted Grey Nurse Sharks (Sand Tiger) in Sydney too, but I have had far better sightings of them outside of Sydney.

Fish

Sydney is home to so many colourful and charismatic fish. In this section we have highlighted our favourites because there are simply hundreds of types. Contrary to what people usually say about fish we have many examples over the last year of their different personalities.

Crustaceans and Cephalopods

In Sydney we see Octopus and Cuttlefish year round and on almost every dive. Squid are quite common too. The octopus have got to be one of my favourites - so curious and intelligent. At night we have fantastic crustaceans with my favourites being the anemone hermit crab and the changing colours of the cuttlefish.

Nudibranchs

I love taking photos of these guys. Nudibranchs and Pleurobranchs are colourful pretty sea slugs that range from the size of my finger nail to the size of my hand. In Sydney these can be seen on every dive. If you didn't spot one, that is probably because you weren't looking hard enough! They are everywhere!

Corals, Sponges, Anenomes

Here is a snapshot of the corals (hard and soft) and sponges of all colours and different types of anenomes we regularly sight in Sydney whilst diving
